It was thirty years since the fall of the Srebrenica enclave. We draw attention to the multimedia exhibition 11 Voices from Srebrenica, a project about remembrance, recognition, and the perspective of survivors.
The search for a shared war history resonates not only in 11 Voices from Srebrenica, but also in the photo book for Hanna, Future Stories from the Past… by Willem Poelstra. His project takes place in Kosovo, where in 1999 — four years after Srebrenica — civilians were once again targeted in ethnically motivated violence. Poelstra weaves that history together with his own family story, asking the same question: how do you continue living with a past that never truly ends?
