Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen has recently acquired the film La Última Ascensión (2022) by artist Kevin Osepa, enhancing its film and video collection alongside works by artists such as Steve McQueen, Bas Jan Ader, and Guido van der Werve. This acquisition makes Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen the only museum in the Netherlands to own a copy of the film (24 minutes). The story follows the fisherman Rowin as he encounters the indigenous Shi, presenting a magical-realist exploration of pre- and post-colonial indigenous and Afro-Caribbean identity.
